Author Archives: Sam P.K. Collins

Sam P.K. Collins has nearly 20 years of journalism experience, a significant portion of which he gained at The Washington Informer. On any given day, he can be found piecing together a story, conducting youth writing workshops, or organizing for Pan-African self-determination.

Sam, a millennial and former editor of WI Bridge, covers the D.C. Council, education, police-community engagement, developments in the African diaspora, and other topics of relevance to Black people.

This journey has been inspired by his experiences growing up, attending college and serving as an educator in Washington, D.C., what he calls Banneker City.

Also of significance to Sam’s professional and personal development in the Black Press is his adherence to the “race first” philosophy espoused by the Honorable Marcus Mosiah Garvey and many others.
