Author Archives: Dr. Shantella Y. Sherman

Dr. Shantella Sherman is a historian and journalist who serves as the Informer's Special Editions Editor. Dr. Sherman is the author of In Search of Purity: Eugenics & Racial Uplift Among New Negroes 1915-1935, Pop-Eu: Popular Eugenics in Television & Film, and the novels Fester, and Spill. She is also the publisher of the quarterly history publication, Acumen Magazine. Her research specialties are the American Eugenics movement, Black British history, and Women & Gender studies. She has earned honors from New America Media, NNPA, and the Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society. Dr. Sherman is a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and a native Washingtonian.
