Biden Takes Aim at High Rents, Unveils Comprehensive Housing Strategy

by Stacy M. BrownJuly 16, 2024July 16, 2024

President Biden has announced a comprehensive housing strategy to make renting more affordable for millions of Americans, including a legislative push for a 5% rent cap and the repurposing of public land for housing, while urging Congress to pass a law to hold corporate landlords accountable.

On Tuesday, June 4, Adrianne Todman, acting secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), held a press conference on the National Mall to preview HUD’s 2024 Innovative Housing Showcase and highlight the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to building new, innovative, and affordable homes for all.
